Can you work with our existing architect or designer?

Absolutely. We've collaborated with many architects and designers over the years and welcome those relationships. The earlier we're brought into the process, the better — it helps us catch potential construction or budget issues before they become costly to change.

Can you refer us to architects and designers?

Yes. We have a network of trusted professionals we've worked with and can recommend based on your style, budget, and project scope.

How long does the building process typically take?

Most custom homes take between 10 and 14 months from groundbreaking to completion, depending on the size and complexity of the home. We'll give you a realistic timeline during our initial conversations — and we work hard to stick to it.

How involved do I need to be as the client?

That depends on you. Some clients want to be at every meeting and every milestone; others prefer to trust us and check in at key points. We're comfortable with both and will follow your lead. What we do ask is that decisions are made on time — delays in selections are the most common cause of project delays.

How is Kent Shaffer Homes different from other builders?

Three generations of experience means we've seen nearly every challenge that can come up in a custom build — and we know how to handle them without passing stress down to our clients. Kristen is personally involved in every project, and our subcontractors are long-standing partners who hold themselves to the same standards we do.

Do you provide support after the project is completed?

Yes. We stand behind our work. If something comes up after you move in, we're not hard to reach and we take care of it.
